  1. Hi guys, I decided to post a quote that stood out to me because I know from what I'm experiencing and I know many of you guys are as well, that many of us are stressed and drained from subbing/interning. I hear encouraging words from professors, people in my internship and each other but I think this quote is great visual reminder that each day we see and experience more tools and strategies that we can use to prepare us to be better teachers. We are almost there!
The quote says: Remember how far you've come, not just how far you have to go. You are not where you want to be, but neither are you where you used to be. -Rick Warren

  2. I love this quote. For me personally, I never thought that it would take me this long to become a teacher. I knew I always wanted to be a teacher, but once I went to college, my life choices forced me to take a different path to get where I wanted to be. I am constantly reminding myself that I have still come so far, and that I'm almost where I want to be. There are definitely days that I want to just give up, but I know once I get where I want to be, it will all be worth it... and I'm thankful that I'm not where I used to be!

  3. I am continually thinking of the day that all of this will be over - as I'm sure many of you are. But it is important to remember that we have taken up a profession that provides us the opportunity to be life-long learners. Simply because our classes and internships end, our education does not have to.

  4. My thoughts exactly! Sometimes it feels like we still have a mountain to climb, but when you look at where we've started it seems like we've already climbed that mountain. We are on the home stretch guys! And like Sean mentioned, we are entering a profession where we are lifelong learners so essentially, we will never be "where we want to be" because we will always be pushing further to be better!

  5. What a great quote, Nikki! It is true that we really have come so far in just over one year! I know that we are all anxiously looking forward to the spring, however I think this quote will still apply as we begin our first few years of teaching. It will be interesting to see how we continue to learn and grow as we experience the joys and enviable challenges of being classroom teachers!

  7. I love this quote! It is so important to remember how much we have learned throughout our internships and classes at Quinnipiac, and all the important experiences and information that we will take us throughout our careers as teachers. It is also important to keep in mind, that, as it says, we are not where we want to be quite yet, but we are so much farther than we once were. We are so much farther into this program and even closer to becoming real teachers. This quote is perfect!

  9. Nikki what a great quote at the end of such a stressful week! Sometimes, like Allie said, I think we forget how much we have learned from our internships and classes and how prepared we really are to enter into this profession. It has taken us many long days and many assignments to get to where we are in this program and we should feel super proud of our accomplishments, especially as we are entering into our student teaching days!

  10. This quote is a great reminder to keep pushing, especially after a long, stressful week! I think that where we are in our program, we are all feeling like we are ready for this whole experience to be done, and we feel prepared to take on our own classrooms. We are anxious to begin teaching students, and continue learning through experiences in the classroom. It's a nice reminder that we are further along than we were before, but we still have so much more to learn.

  12. I love this quote, and it couldn't be more relevant to how we are all feeling. With this semester winding up we have final projects, thesis data to start collecting, student teaching to look towards, assignments and due dates all piling up; but I am also starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. If we think about it this is our last semester of real "classes" and next semester is focused on finishing our thesis and student teaching...and that's ALL we have left. It's so surreal to think that this seemingly never ending program actually does have a finish line. And we are almost there!! Thank you for sharing this Nikki!

  13. Nikki,

I love this quote and like everyone else, feel it is extremely relatable to each and every one of us. Like Allie mentioned, I also agree that it is important for us to remember to take time to reflect on how far we have come throughout this journey and how much we have learned being at Quinnipiac these past two years. It is very easy to get wrapped up in the stress of finals, stress of our internships, and life and forget to appreciate how much this experience has made us grow into the amazing teachers we will be.

    :)
